The interior design, where the water resevoir is, is different from our old one. I took it apart as a father-son project (how stuff works). They have improved the model over time, which is always a nice thing to see.

My advice to you is we were happy enough to buy this cuisinart brew . We are happier with the performance of the new one.

Only complaint we’ve had is that it shuts off the burner before we’re ready sometimes we want another cup of coffee AFTER 2 hours. If you hear the beep, just flip the on switch again, and your old coffee will stay hot for another 2 hours.

If you see any complaints here about older cuisinart brew DCC1200 (3 or more years old) they will not be accurate as far as what you can buy today due to changes.

We also considered moving up to one of the delonghi coffee espresso maker that grind, tamp, brew and dispose of the grinds, but we worried about the reliability of technology that had only recently hit the consumer-grade appliances. After reading zillions of reviews, we realized that every mid-priced machine had some glaring flaw and, in the end, we decided to buy an inexpensive pump-driven unit and wait for the technology to catch up before investing a huge chunk of change in an espresso coffee maker. Moving our investigation to low-end espresso makers, we were impressed by the reviews of the DeLonghi EC155 and purchased it from Amazon.
