Product Description
Cuisinart Brushed Chrome Fully Automatic 12 Cup Grind & Brew Thermal Coffeemaker With Coffee Burr Grinder - Cuisinart DGB-900BC. Easily brew up to 12 cups of great-tasting coffee with this 24-hour fully programmable coffeemaker. The brew and grind comes equipped with a built-in burr grinder, which automatically grinds beans right before brewing, and its grind-control function makes it easy to program the amount of coffee to grind–from 2 to 12 cups. In addition, its strength selector allows for choosing from strong, medium, or mild coffee. The cuisinart 12 cup grind and brew’s bean hopper holds up to a half pound of beans and comes with a sealed lid to prevent moisture. Other highlights include automatic shut-off after brewing, a grind-off option, and an integrated 2- to 4-cup feature, as well as a Gold tone commercial-style permanent filter and charcoal water filter to remove impurities, and a brew-pause function for sneaking a cup midbrew. A 12-cup (5 ounces each) double-wall insulated thermal carafe comes included, which seals in heat and freshness so the last cup tastes as good as the first. The coffeemaker measures 10-2/3 by 8-4/9 by 16-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty.

But its all about the end product, and so far the coffee is strong and fresh.
Too much coffee?,
I purchased this cuisinart griddler around Christmas and was a little concerned over the prior reviews that stated it uses too much coffee. The chemist in me had to do the experiment. A standard issue coffee from Starbucks was ground to a standard medium grind for coffee makers of this type. The coffee was measured on a 1 gram precision scale according to the specification on the Starbucks coffee bag (2Tbs per 6oz cup) to make 6 cups of coffee. The coffee grinds weighed to be 54 grams. The same coffee beans from the same bag were ground in the coffee maker set to 6 cups and strong. The coffee grinds were then measured on the same scale and wouldn’t you know…it was exactly 54 grams. For my coffee beans this machine on the 6 cup setting produced the following:
Strong = 9 grams (2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
Medium = 8 grams (about - 1 3/4Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
Mild = 7 grams (about - 1 1/2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water
I can’t imagine that one couldn’t find a setting to their liking when you consider you have increments of 2 cups with 3 settings (strong, medium and mild) each.
best coffee pot ever,
this is the 4th cuisinart grind and brew coffee that i have bought. Two were for me and two were gifts that i gave. My older model was very good but compared to this one…nothing beats it. Best extraction of bean flavor, easy to use, all the best features that are available rolled in to one unit. Able to fine tune your taste preference. well worth the money and will outlast the lengthy warranty.
good but still not great,
We are very happy with this cuisinart grind brew coffee maker. The things that are not good are that the thermal carafe pours out a very weird thin stream of coffee which takes to long to fill a cup and it is awkward to comepletly emtpy it. It does leave some grindings on the lid but that is not a total problem. The coffee is not as hot because it goes into the cool carafe and that cools it down.
So the point of a thermal carafe is now a drawback. I like my coffee hot so its a draw back for me. Other than that it all works well, stays clean, you do not have to clean the grinder compartment eveyr time you use it. The compartment does not get any steam it in it like the previous one did. We bought ours from Williams Sononma and are trying it out. I think we will keep it but we are still not 100% sure. It makes a good cup of coffee and the grinder works great and the extra beans it holds is a big plus.
