Gaggia 74507BCN is the best known Italian manufacturer of coffee machine for professional and household use and its name is synonymous with tradition and reliability the world over.
The company was set up in 1947 by Achille Gaggia, the man to whom we are indebted for the success of automatic espresso machine all over the world. It was he who on September 5th 1938 filed a patent no 365726 with which modern steam-free coffee machine may be said to have been born.
In 1977 Gaggia began producing coffee machine for the home, launching the Baby Gaggia, which to this day is considered to be the ideal family coffee maker.
First of all, I am an espresso lover, and a picky one. I can’t stand bad coffee. The Gaggia 74507BCN is my third automatic espresso machine and I am delighted with it. If you do what the manual says, it produces wonderful coffee. I use freshly roasted coffee beans, which I grind in my Gaggia 74507BCN just before use and I get a wonderful crema without the optional crema filter.Just remember, you get what you pay for and this Gaggia 74507BCN coffee machine, in my opinion, is top ‘prosumer’ model. Remember, you also get what you pay for when it comes to coffee.
I’ve now owned this for a day, and had about 10 cups so far!-everyone perfect. Espresso, double espresso, capucchino, flat white, americano. Out the box, turn on, follow set-up; away! Ignore comments about removing water tank-you fill this from the top, I use filtered water already in kettle, use in this as well.
Also you CAN swing the steam spout round onto the drip tray, but not really necessary, just tiny drips at end if any.
I have this jammed in with everything else in kitchen, but needs not much other space other than its ‘footprint’.
Noise wise, its slightly quieter than an electric coffee burr grinder, for the few secionds it takes to run a coffee. Milk frothing easy, just used a small china jug but will get the Gaggia 74507BCN one soon. Great hot chocolate as well.
So solid especially the filter handle in brass-equivalent of copper pans for cooking, just stays warm. Instant hot water too. Off for another cup now, do try different coffees with it also.

- Removable water tank not ease to reach in a tight counter space, I would have liked to see more flexibility in the frothing wand, the design leaves too little space both sideways and below to maneuver with the pitcher, cheap plastic, fragile looking bottom tray that contrast with an otherwise stainless steel solid body.
- Although there are much better pump driven machines out there you may find out that the much higher price doesn’t have much impact in the quality of the espresso and sometimes even in the quality or functionality of the Delonghi espresso maker. For a budget minded person, this is a good choice in its class.
- Now a few words about the different espresso makers to help you make a choice. I have owned all three types.
- The traditional stove top maker, pros: is cheap, last a lifetime with little care, keeps the coffee warmer longer, it is messy, slower in comparison with steam driven machines and requires attention while brewing, doesn’t make cream by itself and of course you need a separate frothing device for cappuccinos, size of the brew rigid you will need different sized machines to brew for just yourself or 3-4 people or you’d be wasting coffee.
- Still the most popular household machine in espresso loving countries and localities like Italy, Cuba and Miami.
Steam driven machines
- Finally, the quality of the super automatic espresso machine is in a good part a function of the quality of the coffee you use regardless of the machine, pump driven machines definitively give you a better tasting coffee all other things equal but requires you to learn some techniques and won’t compensate for bad coffee.

How to Fix Gaggia Automatic Espresso Coffee Machine.
 I had a breville espresso Roma, a good automatic coffee maker, but one that I would regard as entry level.
- Although the breville espresso After extensive research, I decided to purchase the Gaggia automatic coffee maker.
- Although no reviews of this automatic espresso machine were available, I really liked the price, the color, the overall design, and the favorable reviews I had seen for other coffee machines in the Gaggia line. had no trouble making espressos with a nice layer of crema, the steaming wand was still a weak spot. Also, there’s no hot water dispenser on that model.
- This Gaggia automatic coffee maker is compact, stylish, and includes elements found on higher end machines like a commercial portability, a stainless steel boiler, and a Pannarello attachment for the steaming wand.
- I am very happy with my Gaggia automatic coffee maker . I really feel that it is a cut above my old Breville espresso. The insides of the automatic espresso machine are top notch.
- It is a very efficient machine which does a great job and is worth every penny.There is a learning curve with this automatic espresso machine because the commercial portafilter does not contain a pressure mechanism like the filters in thermablock systems.
- The requisite pressure for properly extracted espresso is very dependent on the fineness and consistency of the grind and the pressure used to tamp the coffee. Also, I kept coming across the same brand names over and over again with a sterling reputation in the espresso world, and Gaggia is one of those names.
- This automatic espresso machine is all about the ritual of making espresso, meaning you need to pay attention to details like prepping and preheating the machine, and minding the coffee grind and the tamp. The reward, however, is an excellent espresso that trumps what is sold at the typical coffee shop.
- The Pannarello attachment to the steaming wand removes a lot of the guesswork for making steamed milk and foam. The foam I have had from this automatic espresso machine is dense and luscious and makes my latte feel like a mini-vacation.
- The espressos and lattes I have had from this automatic espresso machine far exceed what I had from the breville espresso . They’re also a lot better than what I (used to) get from Starbucks.
- Thanks to my Gaggia automatic coffee maker, I can now get my espresso fix at home (and save beaucoup bucks at the same time)!

The capresso infinity burr grinder has a handful of sizes you can adjust the brew grind to– I’ve kept mine fairly large as I’ve been using fairly oily coffee. The beans are ground and deposited into this little chamber. This next triggers a series of springs that push the grounds into the filter basket and swings the basket to receive water.
A few points about this capresso infinity burr grinder process– some residual beans are left in the little chamber after the grinding. These are used for the next pot of coffee– I discovered early on if you clean this out, the next pot will be noticably weak. There’s a thin piece of hard plastic with a rubber washer in the middle that fits over the top of the filter basket.
The coffee is brewed into a thermal carafe which must be lined up carefully to prevent spillage– I’ve yet to have this spill due to line up problems and I’m pretty impatient, it’s not a hard process. We haven’t tested to see how long it keeps coffee hot for, but it’s at least 3-4 hours. My wife takes her coffee a couple hours after brewing and has no complaints about temperature or degraded taste.
All the coffee we’ve made tastes superb– admittedly, I’ve been starting with good beans, first what we brought back from our honeymoon in Hawai’i and then from a favorite coffeehouse near where I grew up, but it’s as good as any burr grinder coffee maker I’ve used.
Cleanup has been pretty easy so far-- we’ve had the maker maybe six weeks and the carafe has a wide mouth when you remove the lid so this capresso infinity burr grinder’s easy to clean (something I’ve hated in other carafes). The filter basket and associated components all come out and are easy to wash.
I do wish the bean container could be removed, but so far, I’ve just been wiping oil deposits down per recommendations. The capresso infinity burr grinder are not accessible, so there’s no way to clean then other than grinding no beans per recommendations.

The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t shut itself off when the coffee is ready. I HATE overcooked coffee (which is one reason I like espresso so much - it never gets close to the heating element) and I bought this hoping I wouldn’t have to stand around to turn it off, like I do with my stove-top delonghi espresso maker .
But it doesn’t shut itself off, so I do have to stick around. A very nice surprise is that, so long as the delonghi espresso maker is in place on the base, you can set the button to “on” and it stays set, even if unplugged.
This means (I hope) that I can plug it into a timer (once I make it over to Lowe’s to buy one) so that the coffee is ready when I wake up.

The breville die cast espresso coffee maker is incredibly beautiful, as well, as functional! It has a thermo block heating system, 15 bar Italian made pump, dual wall crema system, a pre-brew function and an auto-purge function (anti burn) just to name a few. This breville die cast espresso coffee maker will look gorgeous on your countertop in your kitchen. It’s a functional show piece.
From a interface and asthetic point of view, the breville die cast espresso coffee maker is flawless. It’s beautiful and solid, and has many nice touches like an integral storage bin and swiveling steam wand. Having said that, it’s missing a few things on the INSIDE that you’d expect from a $400 machine:
For one, it uses a thermoblock. This results in a pressure drop and uneven heating compared to a boiler, which is why there is the need for the double-wall crema system. (I’m referring here to pump machines with boilers, not the cheap steam machines.) This is why you’ll find that after brewing you have a soupy sludge instead of the hard dry puck considered an indicator of proper espresso brewing.
Second, the filters and group head aren’t made of brass (which is more temperature stable) like you’ll see in coffee machine of similar price.
Personally, I’m not sure I have a sophisticated enough palette to discern a difference between espresso from this and a machine with better parts. But given that you’re considering spending $400 on an espresso coffee maker, I assume you might be a purist and somebody who cares about getting the best for your money.
I also feel the need to offset some of the other breathless reviews by people who clearly haven’t bothered to do even a minimal amount of research on espresso machines.
Despite the above, the breville die cast espresso coffee maker produces very good espresso, as far as I can tell, and it IS beautiful. My guess is that it overcomes some of its component shortcomings with nice engineering (such as the auto-purge feature to avoid scalding the grounds).
However, you have to wonder if you’re really getting your money’s worth where it counts, when there are breville die cast espresso coffee maker out there at half the price with better internal components and plumbing.
You should be able to find breville die cast espresso coffee maker with more stable temperature and higher effective pressure for much less money if you’re willing to go for substance over looks.

We used to have a fully automatic Coffee Senseo model for the past 9 years, but it recently started leaking and so we decided to get a new espresso coffee maker.
Before buying the Benvenuto B30 espresso coffee maker, we researched quite a few machines: The Coffee Senseo models we saw on store display didn’t strike us as too well-made. Our old one was largely metal but we found the new espresso coffee maker models to be made of relatively flimsy-feeling plastic.
We then looked at the Jura coffee machine but ultimately decided against them due to their high prices, coffee maker reviews we read that the coffee isn’t made hot enough, and also because Jura coffee machine only allow for three different coffee strength settings - weak, medium, and strong. We wanted more choices.
Having had experience with these types of espresso coffee maker for almost 10 years, we knew what we wanted: a height-adjustable spout, the possibility to use both beans and ground coffee, a relatively quiet operation, and an intelligent design which would tell us when to refill water, beans, when to clean, descale, etc. The espresso coffee maker B30 does all that and more. Moreover, it offers stylish design and is very well made.
The coffee machine does not take long to reach its required operating temperature and the electronic display informs you when it is ready. The coffee strength can be adjusted from mild to extra-strong. Furthermore, the amount of water can be adjusted to accomodate small Espresso cups, XXL coffee mugs and pretty much everything in-between.
Undoubtedly the best feature is the height-adjustable spout, or rather spouts (the B30 has 2) which let you brew 2 cups of coffee simultaneously - a huge time-saver in the morning! We found that although the height can only be adjusted by little over 4 inches, there is no problem to use cups higher than that.
This is due to the clever design that gives ample and easy access to the spouts from the side as well as from the front - we just move the cups under the spouts holding them at a slight angle. With our old coffee senseo machine, we always had to remove the grille and tray to be able to accomodate larger mugs.

The drip coffee is excellent. I love the programmable timer and ease of making coffee and cleaning. The espresso coffee maker is quiet and makes coffee very quickly.
The espresso coffee maker is great. The machine makes excellent espresso with espresso beans, I repeat here, espresso beans. It is also quiet, which I really like! There were a couple of tricks I had to learn - one is to make sure that the “taste” dial is not positioned all the way to “strong” otherwise the espresso coffee machine skips making espresso and instead sends the steam to the foamer.
I like the foamer but it is a bit particular. First, it must be cleaned right away and the foamer does make a bit of a mess all over on the inside of the espresso coffee maker - milk seems to bubble out and go under the removable milk compartment and get into hard to reach places to clean. Second, the foamer works well with skim milk or 2% but not so well with whole milk - this is stated in the instructions as well. I love whole milk in my cappucino so that was a bit of a drawback for me.
Overall, I have really enjoyed having this espresso coffee maker and look forward to making either coffee or espresso. It is a bit particular in that everything needs to be exactly right for it to work otherwise issues will arise. I’ve got it dialed now. I would advise reading instructions all the way through once and look over diagrams, then go back and read instructions and set up new espresso coffee maker step by step. It makes everything easier to understand.
